4 reasons to visit Texas in spring

The best time to visit Texas is the spring when the temperatures are mild and wildflowers are in full bloom
. It means you neither freeze nor burn to a crisp.  It’s patio season in the cities when patrons sit outside to enjoy margaritas and a bowl of chips and salsa. From fantastic shopping to unique local culture, these reasons to visit the Lone Star State will get you booking air fares and hotels in no time.

  1. Wildflowers and bluebonnets

In Texas, spring means bluebonnets, Indian blankets, pink evening primroses or Mexican hats. The pretty bluebonnets, the official State Flower, starts blooming in early spring and can be found in open fields and in the city. Every patch of land gets covered with these colourful beauties, but the best place to enjoy wildflowers in the Hill Country.

  1. Shop ‘til you drop in Dallas

Although this is an old cliché, it is nevertheless true in Dallas. From high-end brands to discount brands, Dallasites are avid shoppers, so expect large crowds at certain times of the year, like Christmas of Black Friday in November.  Luxury fashion brands, both international and local, have a home in Highland Park, an elegant open-air shopping mall established in the 1930s in the exclusive Highland Park neighbourhood. Northpark and Galleria Dallas shopping malls carry high-end as well as high street brands. Out in the northern suburbs, Willowbend and Stonebriar malls also cater to every budget. The Premium Outlet Malls located in Allen and Grand Prairie are a shoppers’ paradise with regards to brand variety at excellent discount prices.

  1. The Hill Country

The Hill Country is the heart of Texas. This region of central Texas presents a stark contrast with the rest of the state. Its hills, hidden swimming holes, scenic roads, state parks, wineries, and lakes set the Hill Country apart. The Highland Lakes form a chain of six fresh water lakes and dams built to prevent flooding and to harness electric power. Wildlife enthusiasts will love watching bald eagles, white-tailed deer, armadillos, coyotes, road runners, and many other species. Wine lovers will be able to tour wineries located in beautiful settings and sample local and imported wines in one of the tasting rooms. Antique hunters will enjoy rummaging around the antique stores, one the attractions of the Hill Country.

  1. Texas barbeque

Tender pork meat that falls off the rib slathered in tangy and sweet BBQ sauce. Juicy, buttery brisket cooked for hours in the smoker and that melts in your mouth. Spicy, smoky sausages. Everything served with a side of cole slaw, potato salad and pickles and washed down with local craft beer or a tall glass of sweet iced tea.
